The locations guide is a guide of locations in the various Macross productions, and what locations the author is aware of from various Macross RPG games. The author has also included what he feels are noteworthy objects to stimulate the imaginations of the readers, and star systems that are known in the real world and highly likely to have been explored in the Macross Universe.
For a more complete understanding of stellar objects, the reader is advised to explore the following: Milky Way Arms and mapping, The Milky Way, List of stars, List of brightest stars, List of heaviest stars, List of largest stars, Black hole, Intermediate-mass black hole, and Supermassive black hole.
Refer to the page on the Sol System for a realistic idea of the shear number and variety of potential objects in a star system.
Fictional Macross entries are in darkgreen.
The following articles are extrapolations by the author on canon Macross information and canon Macross RP Gaming, and are provided to illustrate the current Macross universe and it's potential future. They are not canon, and may need to be updated to correlate with the latest Macross information available:
Galactic Map Primer
The most understood, explored, colonized and best defended sector of the UNG. It is considered the 'home turf' of humanity, and any unauthorized defolds into the sector are generally met with lethal force. The sector is ball-shaped, with a radius of 100 light years based on Sol/Earth, at the center. It was colonized entirely by Short-Range Emigration Fleets.
Noteable locations: Earth, Eden, Acheron, Charest (Brittania), Avalon, Avemaria, Banibal, Bellfan, Beneb Star System, Cristrania, Dahan, Fioria, Hydra, Iota, Neo Edo, Neo York, New Asia, Salvation, and Susia.
Noteable locations:
Sector Three
Hurtz system
Spinward of sector 3.
- Protoculture Ruins
- Huge empty cavern that was laid with blue Protoculture gak.
Sector Four
Sector Five
Nede
- Famous for it's beer exports.
- Suffered the Varuta annexation for a few weeks in 2048.
Is a sector that has seen limited exploration and colony development due to a large black hole - a fold navigation hazard - in the area closest to Sol/Earth. Recently, the colonists in the area have started making extreme overt moves against the UN.
Noteable locations: Rock 387, Pregas 2 (Iota), BCTC, Dorta, Whade, the Bell Cluster
Noteable locations: Agno System (Edlings AFB), Antala, El Dorado, Momoyama, New Patagonia, Sisko ('Nam),
Noteable locations: Eskar III, Hasbron, Janix II, Char System (LV-426), Thirty-Four (PCAC #34), Reebox.
Sector 15
Zentraedi Control Zone
Is an expansive area, currently off-limits to UNG personnel and shipping, by treaty with the Zentraedi commander in charge of the Zentraedi Grand Fleet, which controls and constantly patrols the area. The commander continues to follow the order of the Protocultures to avoid the Protoculture. In addition, he follows the last orders that he received from the Protocultures, which were to maintain control and security of the area, and protect it from the Supervision Army.
In the last decade, a number of rogue Zentraedi have migrated from the UNG territories into the control zone; and are currently at war with the Grand Fleet.
Sector 19
Avamore System
Avamore VII
- A frigid world with an icy surface.
- M15 Fleet arrived in late November.
- The Cysgld, a crippledZentraedi warship has layen on the surface for an indeterminate period of time. The surviving crew join the M15 fleet.
Sector 20
New Essex
"Close to the Galactic Centre, far to the north and east of Earth." The sector (based on the Galactic coordinate system, and not the UNG system) is full of some 100 to 200 star systems. The sector is believed to contain the ruins of several abandoned Protoculture colonies. Several Zentraedi warlords are fighting for control of the sector. The largest and strongest of the warlords is Commander Renrak leader of the 3,568th Renrak Fleet. The nearest United Nations Government worlds are small and unimportant. They are a 'significant' number of light years away in Sector 19, and slightly more than 75 light-years beyond that, the major UNG sector capital and major fleet repair yards of New Patagonia, in Sector 7.
Noteable locations: Estuary, Fechin, Fordast, Potekar, Teradai (M-15 Fleet), Vaylan-Fianthas
Milky Way Galaxy: Orion Arm - beyond the UNG's borders
- is the second brightest star in the constellation Orion and the tenth brightest star in the nighttime sky.
- is a red supergiant star, one of the physically largest stars known. If it was placed at the center of our Solar System, the Earth would be engulfed and would be inside it.
- Its proximity to Earth, combined with its enormous size, make it the star with the third largest angular diameter as viewed from Earth.
- 5,000 light-years away from Sol.
- The nebula is at 1º kelvin - the coldest place known outside a laboratory.
- The Boomerang Nebula is formed from the outflow of gas from a star at its core. The gas is moving outwards at a speed of about 600,000 km/h and expanding rapidly as it moves out into space. This expansion is the cause of the nebula's very low temperature. It is believed that the nebula is a star or stellar system evolving toward the planetary nebula phase.
Deneb
- is the brightest star in the constellation Cygnus and one of the brightest stars in the night sky, with apparent magnitude 1.25.
- about 1,600 to 3,200 light years from Sol.
- It appears to have a diameter about 200 to 300 times that of the Sun; if placed at the center of our Solar System, Deneb would extend to the orbit of the Earth. It is one of the largest stars known.
- Deneb IV - habitable planet orbiting the star.
- a very large (100-150 times as much mass as the Sun) and bright (about four million times that of the Sun) luminous blue variable (LBV) star located about 7,500 light-years from Earth.
- The star is surrounded by a large, bright nebula, known as the Eta Carinae Nebula, the Keyhole Nebula, or NGC 3372.
- As of July 2005, Eta Car is the 5th most luminous star yet discovered, and still the most massive.
- Mylene Flare Jenius, the 7th child of Maximilian and Milia Fallyna Jenius, born onboard the space carrier Red Moon in flight near the Nebula, 2031.02.02.
- Is one of the closest planetary nebulae to Earth - 650 light-years from Sol.
- Is a planetary nebula created at the end of the life of a Sun-like star. The outer gases of the star expelled into space appear from our vantage point as if we are looking down a helix. The remnant central stellar core, destined to become a white dwarf star, glows in light so energetic that it causes the previously expelled gas to fluoresce.
- It is 47.9 light years from Sol.
- Is a yellow dwarf star, similar to the sun, but 4% larger.
Bellerophon (51 Pegasi b)
- Is the prototypical hot Jupiter, orbits the star in 4.23077 (+/- 0.00005) days.
- 0.052 AU from 51 Pegasi; much closer to it than Mercury is to our Sun.
- Suffers temperatures of around 1000 degrees Celsius, yet is about half the mass of Jupiter (about 150 times that of the Earth).
- Bellerephon probably has a greater radius than Jupiter despite its lower mass. This is because its superheated atmosphere must be puffed up into a thick but tenuous layer surrounding it. Beneath this, the gases that make up the planet would be so hot that the planet would glow red. Clouds of silicates may exist in the atmosphere.
- The planet is tidally locked to its star, always presenting the same face to it.
- It is 431 (+/- 27) light years from Sol.
- It is an F7 supergiant (Ib) or bright giant (II), with two smaller companions: an F3 V main sequence star about 2000 AU away and a close companion in an orbit with a 5 AU semi-major axis.
- is the name for a red giant star in the constellation Dorado, and is located approximately 200 light years away.
- is the star with the largest apparent size so far discovered. The diameter of R Doradus is about 250 million km, 370 (+/- 50) times the diameter of the Sun.
Milky Way Galaxy Sagittarius Arm (towards the galactic center)
G-PN 88
The distance between the local arm and the Perseus Arm is about 6,500 light-years.

- Communications from the fleet (and Megaroad-01) cease near the center of the Milky Way Galaxy. (News about this ship is not publicized) in 2016.
- At the distance of 5,600 light years, it is perhaps the closest globular cluster to our Solar system
- M4 appears about the same size as the Moon on the sky which, given its distance, yield a spatial dimension of some 75 light years across. At least 43 variable stars have been observed in this cluster.
- PSR B1620-26 is a neutron star pulsar.
- PSR B1620-26b is a white dwarf companion to the pulsar primary, it has a mass of 0.34 solar mass. These stars orbit each other at a distance of 1 AU about once every half year.
- PSR B1620-26c Methuselah
- is a planet orbitting the primary and secondary in a circumbinary orbit. This makes the system the only triple system radio pulsar, and the only triple system in a globular cluster known thus far.
- has a mass of 2.5 times that of Jupiter, is in an orbit similar to that of Uranus around the Sun, but slightly larger; PSR B1620-26c orbits at a distance of 23 AU (3.4 Tm). Each orbit of the planet takes about 100 years.
- it is likely that PSR B1620-26c is also about 12.7 billion years old. This is much older than any other known planet, and nearly three times as old as Earth.
- The triple system is just outside the core of the globular cluster. The age of the cluster has been estimated to be about 12.7 billion years. Hence this is the age estimate for the birth of the planet, and two stars.
- Is located 30,000 to 49,000 light years from Sol.
- Measured at over 130 times the mass of the sun (Sol) and is near the core of the Milky Way Galaxy.
Pistol Star
- is 10 million times as bright as the Sun and about 100 times as massive.
- It is located approximately 25,000 light years from Earth in the direction of Sagittarius, near the center of the Milky Way.
- Mz3 (Menzel 3) is a planetary nebula of unknown size and distance from Sol.
