As far as I know, the total episode count hasn't been released yet.  IMHO, it's either a standard anime TV series length, or an extended length one, like Macross 7 was.

So from 24-48. That's a pretty meaty series, especially to show on a weekly basis. I wish they would commit that sort of time to lost.

I asked because of the "Bye Bye Cheryl" episode. There was a hint of finality to it, so I wondered if F got cut to OVA length. Thanks.

There are a couple of episode titles released so far with references back to SDF:M.  "Miss Macross" and "Bye Bye Mars/Sheryl" are foremost in my mind.

The "Bye Bye Sheryl" is probably in reference to her leaving the Frontier fleet and returning to the Galaxy Fleet.  Though, what with her being one part of the love triangle with Alto, I think that she's only going to be gone long enough for Alto and Ranka Rii to get aquanted.
