Been awhile since I've done one of these:

Reverse: Interview with Haruhiko Mikimoto and Shouji Kawamori.  Has 2009, February, MACROSS BEGINS.  (My impression is that it is not talking about a new series.  The *real* Macross starts?  Speaking of which, the events of Macross 0 take place this month (2008.09).  Which is perhaps why the next episode is called "True Begin(ning)"?

From the previous encounters with Vajra, a main fighter that the NUNS could use - for the anti-Vajra annihilation [extermination] battle, a custom machine that's been thuroughly tuned up.  Aruto's fighter is becoming the same colours as his favourite machine up to now, the VF-25 Messaia.

VF-171EX
The fuselage that Aruto and Ruka, who could transfer into the NUNS, drive [spur on].  They are given new equipment, an anti-Vajra use VF-171 based on the old model.

Battlefrontier
The flagship of the frontier fleet, a battle class variable stealth assault [attack/strike] space (aircraft) carrier, with the greatest firepower in the fleet.  It is the core [kernal/nucleus] of the NUNS.

The 171EX isn't bad. Even a relatively new pilot like Alto seems to be able to hold his own against his Sempai Ozma in it. I am still hoping for more exposition on the VF-24, which I loved the line art on. It will probably take years, or at least a video game before it gets a background. Out of interest, what other new NUNS mecha has appeared on the scene?
