Even though 2045 AD generated an unexpected happening with what is called the Protodevlin War, the human seeding plan progressed favourably in general. However, in 2059 a new enemy became the obstruction to the advancement of the human race in the galaxy.
2048 The 117th Investigation Fleet, were destroyed by encountering the Vajra.

The 117th Investigation Fleet, encounter the Vajra and are destroyed
Dr. Mao Nome, who is known as the leading person in Protoculture research [studies, investigations], organized the 117th Large-Scale Research Fleet in order to realize the investigation [research] of the unidentified super life-form (the Vajra). Together with Ranshe Mei, Grace O'conner and the like, Dr. Nome undertook the research of the Vajra and the mechanism of the V-type infection, that was a Vajra intermediary. However, in 2048, in Garia [Galia] 4's region of space, which is in the neighbourhood of the center of the galaxy, the fleet, having been attacked by the Vajra, was destroyed. The fleet, in addition to the research materials, was lost. On the other hand, the New UN Government blanketed this matter, and because they had announced [published] that "the reason for the disaster was that the fleet had been swallowed up by a fold dislocation", there were few people who knew the truth of the incident.

The human race, who had continued to extensively migrate in the galaxy, tried to come to a stable period in 2050 AD. However, on the other hand, political and military tension rises around remote [frontier, border] city districts where the influence of the New UN Government doesn't easily reach, and a situation has been generated where it is said that rebellion, terrorist activities and so on, as well as syndicate crime, repeatedly occur. The New UN Government, which faced these crisises, summoned ace pilots who have excellent flying senses and a tough emotional strength [strong force of will], and established the Special Duty Force [unit] "the 727th Independant Squadron Ravens", whose main battle strength is the AVF (Next Generation All-Regime Variable Fighter). They were a force made to applied to dealing with various incidents that the regular forces find difficult to urgently deal with.

Sheryl, who is always occupying the top position of the Galaxy Network, is in the midst of a Galaxy Tour, and has designated the Macross Frontier fleet as the place of the tour's last public performance. The subject of the talk of the town amongst the people participating in the fleet is Sheryl's visit. Among other things, Ranka Lee, who dreams to be a singer and admires Sheryl, cannot surpress her excitment (that Sheryl has come to the fleet).

Special Duty Forces other than the VF-X Ravens
Even though VF-X Ravens is the famous special duty squadron formed after SWI, quite a few other units exist. Though the "Dancing Skulls", a small unit composed of husband and wife Maximilian Jiinasu and Miria Farina Jiinasu that was active from about 2014 to 2030, they were under the command of the UN Forces Intelligence division [department, bureau, component] and contributed to dispute [trouble, strife] supression which sprung forth on each [every] emigrant [immigrant] planet. Moreover, in 2047, the event thus called the kidnapping of the idol group "Milky Dolls" occured. The group had been expected to participate in a sound project which assumed [supposed, hypothesized] a battle [campaign] with the next version of the Zentraadi. A special duty unit repressed [supressed] that event with the Assault Space-submersible Mothership Valhalla III forming the core [kernel, nucleus] (of their operations).
Caption: The Valhalla III is the best warship for the secret duty [mission], which though it has an overall length of no more than 100 m, it's stealthiness is high.

Extra Report: "Nyan-nyan", which expanded to a galactic scale
The Chinese restaurant "Nyan-nyan", that was Ranka's former part-time job, is the successor of the restaurant of the same name that was formerly on South Ataria island. "Nyan-nyan" became famous in one bound as at the time it was Lynn Minmei's former part-time job, combined with humanity's advancement into the galaxy in order to expand [develop] into a chain store. There appears to be branches set up [opened] on several [a multiple of] Emigrant Fleets.
Caption: It has made a CM (commercial message) which seems to have been very popular from the copying of it's catchy tune.
Caption: Nyan-nyan's menu's specialty, the "maguro-man" [Tuna bun, tuna dumpling]. In addition, there is also a unique [novelty] menu, such as the "Zentora-don"* [Zentra-don, Zentra Bowl].
* This is a play on words that doesn't translate very well. The original sounds very similar to Zentradi.
