The Riviera-15 is the singular Riviera Marine Resort Class Vessel of the Macross-15 Fleet. Its mission to provide living accomodation for over 70,000 people, and provide seafood for the rest of the fleet. As its name also suggests the Riviera-15 is a resort ship, its interior designed along the idea of places on earth such as the French Riviera, (hence its name,) Florida beach cities, (like Miami and For Lauderdale,) and Spanish coastal resorts. The interior of the Riviera-15 is hot, and sunny, and almost everyday is a the perfect summer holiday day.
The Riviera has no defences of its own, other than the armour plated clam shield that protects its transparent atmosphere dome, and its Pin Point Barriers. Thus the Riviera-15 must rely on the UNS Ranger, an Ark Royal Class Carrier attached to the Riviera-15 for defense, hoping that the UNS Rangers weapons and Variable Fighters will be adequate to defend it.
Interior Design
The buildings of the Riviera-15 are predominantly no higher than three stories, however a number of tall apartment and office blocks do exist. The lower buildings however are commonly painted in pastel colours, giving a please palette to the eye whilst roaming the Riviera's city. Although there are many roads in the Riviera-15, there are only 4 roads which are considered to be the central hub of entertainment.
Atlantic Drive : The beachfront road runs between the beach and the beachfront restaurants, cafe,s, clubs and apartments. Atlantic Drive runs almost the entire length of the beachfront, making it a popular place for people to walk or just cruise along in a car enjoying the sights. At night Atlantic Drive truly comes alive withpastel coloured restaurants, cafe's and bars staying open until well after midnight serving food and drink to the late night revellers in the warm night-time air. Night clubs dot the front staying open until dawn breaks, making the Riviera-15 one of the few ships in the fleet that never seems to sleep.
Pacific Avenue : Directly behind Atlantic Drive, paralleling it is the Riviera-15's primary shopping area. This great long road has everything. From 5 Star Hotels, to Sushi restaurants, Designer clothes stores, to food supermarkets. Pacific Avenue also has some of the most amazing architecture with the grander Hotels. It is said amongst Riviera residents, that if you can't buy it on Pacific Avenue, then they don't have it in the Fleet. This comment is more true than most people think due to the sheer diversity of shops. The only place that comes a close second is the downtown area of the Riviera-15.
Ocean Road : Near the centrepoint of Atlantic Drive and Pacific Avenue, coming up from them vertically as though they were horizontal is Ocean Road. The centre of art for the Rivieria-15 in many ways as in amongst the restaurants and bars, are many art galleries and antiques dealers stores. Outdoor chairs and tables from the restuarants, bars and cafe's line the edges and centre of the pedestrianised street. Street performers can commonly be found entertaining the populace here.
Lagoon Street : Crossing horizontally across the vertical Ocean Road is Lagoon Street. Commonly overlooked by the average visitor to the Riviera-15, but certainly known to all of the Riviera's inhabitants. Lagoon Street holds the more quiet restaurants, bars and stores. They are usually much more expensive, but worth every penny. Lagoon Street is the quiet, little known, palce to be if your cool.
Palm Tree Walk : Situated in the palm Tree Beach area to the east of the Riviera-15, this whole area is alive at night with restaurants, bars, cae's, late opened stores, cinema, nightclubs, etc. It is a favoured place for Rivieria-15 teenagers to go to weekend evenings, as everything is all in one place. Its also bright and lively, and many of the places here will permit under 18's (still no drinking though.)
Area's/Districts of Rivieria-15
West Beach : The western end of the Riviera-15 city, techically including the Port as well, but most locals think of the port as separate. The west beach are includes some residential and some business area's back from the beach.
Coco Beach : The largest section of the City, and also where everything is happening.Coco Beach contains the majority of Atlantic Drive, Pacific Avenue, Ocean Road and Lagoon Street. It also overlaps with the business area of Downtown, and the residential area to the east.
Palm Tree Beach : To the east is the primary residential area of the Riviera-15. The far most eastern part of Palm Tree Beach includes luxury blocks of apartments, and mansions, with the furthest most eastern part of the beach being a private beach.
Downtown : The hub of business and Government onboard the Riviera-15. Not everything is about the beach contrary to popular belief, and residents when not topping up their tans or relaxing in cafe's, would most probaby be found here working in one of the many companies, or perhaps in the Government buildings here.
Port : When most people think of seaside resort ports they expect something small and quaint. The Riviera-15's port is most certainly not small, its a comfortably sized modern port which deals with the trawling and fishing for seafood for the fleet. The buildings and businesses that surround the port are all orientated towards this line of business as well. Also available from the port (and at other ports along the beach) are pleasure cruises, where you can hire a boat and cruise along the sea, or hire jetski's, or scuba gear.
